Cellist Karen Kaderavek, whose playing has been described as “probing, luminous in sound and supple in rhythm” (Anthony Tommasini, New York Times) and “beautifully focused and propulsive” (Richard Dyer, Boston Globe), is known for her solo, chamber and orchestral performances in the US, Canada and abroad.

As solo cellist and chamber music artist, she has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Library of Congress, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Her festival appearances include the Edinburgh International, Mostly Mozart, Tangelwood, Ravinia, Blossom, Taos, Music From Angel Fire, Nakamichi, Cervantino (Mexico), Moon in August (Crete), Sound Ways International (St. Petersburg, Russia), Hollywood Bowl, Lanaudière, Festival d’été du Quebec and the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival.

An advocate of contemporary music, Ms Kaderavek has premiered dozens of new works, many written for her. Notably, her debut solo CD, “Cello Alchemy,” produced by Pulitzer Prize winning composer/conductor Gunther Schuller, was released on the GM Recordings label and has received critical acclaim. The repertoire consists of 20th century Eastern European and Russian music and includes world premieres of three pieces.
She has taught cello and chamber music at the New England Conservatory and the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, and at Potsdam.

As baroque cellist, Karen has performed and recorded with many of the world’s leading early music specialists including Christopher Hogwood, Joshua Rifkin, Trevor Pinnock and Andrew Parrott. These recordings can be found on the Denon, Decca, and Oiseau Lyre labels. She appears on Deutche Grammophon with Musica Antiqua Köln, and on over a dozen recordings for Telarc as principal cellist with Boston Baroque, an ensemble nominated three times for a Grammy.
